Our great friend and supporter Nigel has, after 6 years, decided to close his Roots Larder business from Sat 30th March. This will impact our Coffee Mornings so please read on for what happens next.
Thank you Nigel for all the great support you have given us!
We have been really grateful for Nigel’s support over the years as he enabled us to offer plastic free goods, recycling of specialist plastics, and a wide range of ethically sourced goods.
We are very pleased to report that some services will continue to be run from the building that Roots was occupying just off the Newport Road in Stafford, ST16 1BQ.
Whilst Nigel won’t be able to deliver directly to our coffee mornings in future, he will still be involved to ensure that the following services do continue:
Recycling of specialist plastics and other items
SinCH will still continue to collect SOME, but not all, items at the Coffee Mornings and our volunteers will ensure that they are taken into Stafford.
We will be able to receive the following:
- Crisps Packets – Packed Tightly
- Pringle Tubes
- Bread Bags – Packed Tightly
- Tetrapak boxes – washed, squished + with lid ON
- Batteries
- Pens
- Medicine blister packs
- Light bulbs (for B&Q recycling)
Please note that there will no longer be a collection point at High Chase Rise.
We will be organising a rota of volunteers to take the items to Stafford for recycling. We will see how this goes and review it in due course.
You can also take your own recycling into Stafford – for the FULL list of things they can receive please check here.
Refills
Popular liquid refills will still be available via the Tranquility premises so bring your bottles. Tranquility is based in the same building off the Newport Road ST16 1BQ.
You can also get some refills at the Canalside Farm Shop and Peak Health in Rugeley.
Rehome and Repurpose
Nigel is also continuing to support the great work being done at Rehome and Repurpose so check them out and pop into Stafford if yoiu have something to give them and to grab yourself a bargain. If you have any small items to donate to them please bring them to the SinCH Coffee Morning and we will pass them on.
Ethical Food sourcing via Roots Larder
Firstly, Locally made preserves and local honey will continue to be available at the Stafford building which will also be the hub for deliveries of the Derbyshire-based Farmacy Organic Fruit and Veg box scheme which is is proving very popular. This is available once a fortnight – order at Farmacycoop.org and have your items delivered to Roots for collection for an extra £2.
Secondl;y, Nigel is continuing to run the Roots Bulk Buying Club which includes a range of dried goods and fruits, teas, coffees, household items, bottled and tins goods etc.
Place your order here and you will receive an email when your items can be collected from Roots Larder / Tranquillity – Castlefields, Stafford , ST16 1BQ
Monthly order deadlines are the first Monday in the month – there is no monthly obligation to order. However, there is a £30 minimum order at present but this may be reduced when more customers join the club.
As this is a Bulk Buying Club, many items come in 2-5 kg bags or 5 Litre bottles – if this quantity is too much, maybe share with family members or friends and split the costs.
