We are very pleased that we are able to offer another guided walk through Brocton Coppice led by local entomologist Jon Webb.
Meet at the Coppice Hill car park near Brocton at 9.45 for a prompt 10.00 start. (Please see joining instructions below.)
Jon will be giving us hands-on advice on how to spot insects and amongst the habitats he’ll explore will be the spring blossom, mature and veteran trees and the understorey of dead wood, twigs and sticks.
Cannock Chase is home to a wide variety of species, some of which are quite rare so check out the guide here. For more information about the habitats on Cannock Chase please see the leaflet here and for more things to do on the Chase here – let’s go local!
Also please check out local activities which are supporting National Insect Week between 23-29 June.
Joining Instructions – all welcome!
We actively encourage car sharing so please email info@sinch.earth if you can offer a space or if you need a lift.
Finding Coppice Hill Car Park – access is via Brocton village. When heading from Milford Common take the first left past the shop/post office and head up the hill (shown as the yellow road on the map here) and in about 0.8 miles take a left turn down a track to the car park.
NOTE: Brocton Coppice is a fabulous area but please note the walk will involve some significant gradients and the going underfoot can be tricky at times. The weather may be unpredictable, the terrain might be wet and uneven in places – so wear suitable footwear and clothing!
Whenever we are walking on Cannock Chase we also need to be aware of ticks and other wildlife-related issues so please make yourself familiar with advice here and here prior to joining us.
